Artist Statement: “My work focuses on the difficulty of revealing what needs to be changed, and the beauty of growth that comes afterwards. The juxtaposition of pain and beauty represented through a portrait of a woman where her senses are covered with nature. This represents the combination of humanity and environment, of being pushed down and rising back up, and the regrowth that follows."
Olive is a visual artist from Los Angeles currently living and working in Denver. She received her BFA from Otis College of Art + Design in 2011.
The bold graphic colorscapes, defined edges, line-work and movement are referential of Moya’s background in illustration and lettering. She describes her paintings as “abstract storytelling,” influenced by how Frank Stella described his own work, saying: “[Abstraction] could have a geometry that had a narrative impact. In other words, you could tell a story with the shapes.” Each of Moya’s works are a push and pull between intuition and control. It is a performance by and for the artist, reflecting identity back on oneself to simulate comfort and stability in the face of fear and loss of control.
The need and desire to create called so loudly I had no choice but to become an artist. My love affair with creating started as far back as I can remember, holding coloring books like sacred treasures. I’m the first generation born in America on my father’s side; the complexities of being Iranian- American deeply impacted who I am. I grew up moving states every few years and was challenged by constantly starting over. Between the factors of being biracial and moving so often in my childhood, creating art was my only coping mechanism. I briefly lost my connection with art while completing my business degree at the University of South Florida and later working in the corporate world. It didn't take long for me to notice how unhappy I was without creating. I became determined to find who I was artistically and to live a creative life. After 5 years of teaching myself how to paint, I found my creative voice. Words can not describe how gratifying it was to finally see myself in my work.
Artist Statement
Using acrylic paint, I create abstract florals with a balance of instinctual movement and subtle observations. Meaning, I dance as I paint using the rhythm of music to guide my brush while pulling imagery from my imagination, photography, and live flowers. With my intuitive technique, I paint without inhibitions, allowing myself to move wild and free and letting my paintings develop organically layer after layer. Through this give and take process an interweaving effect naturally occurs amongst the layers capturing different moments in time.
I’m drawn to the life cycle of flowers, how they grow through dirt, endure elements they can’t control, bloom gorgeously yet become more interesting as they age and wilt.
I indirectly portray different parts of myself and femininity, showing both fierceness and softness in my work through color and brushwork. Naming my floral pieces after women, either creating a character or after someone I’m inspired by, is my way of celebrating feminism.
I strive for my work to carry positive energy that will influence their surroundings. My hope is for the viewer to forget about their troubles and simply immerse themselves in brushstrokes.

As an artist, Johnny Draco draws inspiration from his personal experiences, his surroundings, and his quest to challenge societal norms. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Draco now calls Denver, Colorado, his home. He began his career in the arts in Atlanta, where he was exposed to various forms of art, including street art, graffiti, and hip-hop culture. His love for these art forms led him to explore other mediums, such as painting, sculpture, and mixed media.
Draco's art is multidisciplinary and reflects his personal interests. He creates pieces that feature bold and contrasting colors, which act as a conductor on the viewers' perspective. His work creates space for reality and sets to explore and interrogate societal norms. Draco's art is not just a visual representation of his beliefs but a call to action to his viewers to engage in critical thinking about their own beliefs and biases.
Through his art, Draco seeks to challenge the status quo and provoke conversations about societal issues. His work is a reflection of his own experiences and a commentary on the world around him. Moe Gram is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Denver, and works on a diverse array of mediums that include painting, mural, collage, and installation. Gram graduated from California State University Bakersfield with a major in Visual Arts and a minor in Cultural Studies with a focus in Italian Culture, during which she participated in a 6 month museum studies and studio arts program in Florence, Italy.
Gram’s work involves themes of identity, empathy, human connection, and self reflection. Immediately upon viewing her work, you are met with a boom of vivid colors, movement, noise, and texture that settles into a controlled and intentional vibration. The viewer’s eyes harmoniously dance across the piece along the lines and curves of her brush strokes, and end on the powerful, simple message at its core. The beauty of Gram’s work is beyond the aesthetics of her carefully curated color palette, and found within her request of encouraging the viewer to dig deeper within themselves. This is illustrated in her mural for Black Love Mural Festival in 2020, a recent example of Gram’s social justice work; inspired by her personal experience, observation, and self reflection, she presented a potent message of empathy. The audience contemplates the meaning of empathy, how it pertains to the self, and what it truly means to extend empathy to others.
Her dedication to social justice is integrated into her work with the Denver community and youth. Gram, a mentor and educator, is involved in numerous youth collaborations and community-building organizations, with notable projects like Our Voice, Our Views, Our Vote (PlatteForum Art Lab), Here is Our Heart (Boettcher Boys and Girls Club), and Our lives, Our growth (Elevation Ability Services). Her passion for community and social change lead to Gram’s participation in Babe Walls 2020, a mural festival celebrating women and non-binary folk; her involvement was a firm reminder to a male-dominated community that their permission and acceptance was never needed.
From works on canvas to installations and murals, Moe Gram’s work is distinctive, engaging, and thoughtful. Through her signature color palette, messaging, and use of juxtaposition, Gram’s work encourages the viewer to absorb and reflect- for the betterment of oneself and collectively for us all.
“JUST” Giovannie is a self taught multidisciplinary artist who found art while working construction back in 2017 in Phoenix, Arizona. He felt he no longer had a purpose in life to then become a full time artist after only two years of painting. He now strives to be a prime example of what is possible in a short period of time.
He was born and raised in Los Angeles, California to two Jamaican parents who immigrated to America back in the mid 80’s, that's all the motivation he needed to dream big. Giovannie describes himself as an athlete turned artist and is huge on remembering where you come from as he highlights his athletic background and the lessons from sports, “good and bad”, when telling his story. Having played football as a kid, throughout high school, and college, he believes in a ‘you can do anything you put your mind to’ mentality and really wants to showcase that in his work and creativity in hopes to empower all who experience his creations. Now having taught himself how to produce art at a high technical level he is finding more creative ways to speak through his art and play in spaces that aren’t driven by art but can create opportunity for more discussions through art.
“People make it seem like the path of least resistance is the best path. I rather fail forward fast because there are no loses just lessons, if you are paying attention you will be rewarded and experience another moment of growth.” - Just

She makes brightly colored, poppy paintings that typically incorporate/combine human and natural elements with nostalgia. “I like having a very clean, cut and paste approach to imagery. In my work, it’s so fun focusing on recognizable characters from popular culture. People have such a positive and nostalgic response to them...often following up with a response of a suggestion on what I should do next.
It really creates a dialogue, and there’s something so gratifying being able to make things that you know your friends will dig. Repurposing them into this new, often female body, is my way of injecting myself into it all...quite literally because I’m using myself as the model ninety percent of the time.

Danielle has been a resident of Colorado since 2012, spending part of her time in Charlotte, NC.
Through a variety of techniques- working with reclaimed fabrics, natural dyes, hand embroidery, back lighting and expanding her creations onto walls, emotive/textured pieces spring to life--- transforming the two-dimensional paintings into three-dimensional mural installations. You may even hear a song or two infused within quotes, to symphonize throughout the pieces.

From painting on fabric to painting on walls, Danielle challenges herself to explore different mediums to mimic a similar effect, which provides her with a sense of balance within painting tools. Metaphorically, this becomes freeing in the moment and leading to new discoveries of who the artist is and unbecoming. From art installation to public walls -that speak through its creator with anyone who comes upon them. Through her art, Danielle desires to create a relatable, immersive environment. A place where the audience feels secure + welcome to be their truest self. to interact, slow down and feel into what the narrative means to them. Through evoking emotion, Her paintings are dreamlike vessels of feminine healing activation for her to communicate and encourage others to move into their expressive power. Explore their internal environments to bring empathy + love - in + through each other + Our environments--- evolve + grow together.“I like having a very clean, cut and paste approach to imagery.
